Product Description

Aluminium plate is an important structural material for aircraft, and it is mainly used in fuselage, wing skin, oil tank etc. By using aluminium composite materials, the density of aircraft's outer skin can be decreased by 5%-7%. As a result, the total weight can be reduced 10%, and therefore fuel efficiency increases. Moreover, 7% can be increased in stiffness of the material by using aluminium. Due to the superb corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance and damage tolerance of alunimium alloy, the inspection period can be extended and hence decreasing maintenance cost.

2024 aluminum plate is made of an aluminum-copper alloy, with high strength-to-weight ratio. 2024 plate has several applications including truck and aircraft wheels, truck suspension parts, and is useful in aircraft fuselage components. 2024 Aluminum Plate does have limited weldability, however 2024 Aluminum plate is less corrosion resistant than other alloys.

2024 aluminum plate T351 temper indicates it has been solution heat treated, cold worked, and naturally aged, followed by a minimal stretching to reduce stresses in the material.

2024 t351 aluminum plate has good fatigue resistance and is specified for many structural applications for aerospace, including structural components, wing tension structure, and shear ribs and webs.

 

2024-T351 temper: has an ultimate tensile strength of 470 MPa (68 ksi) and yield strength of 280 MPa (41 ksi). It has an elongation of 20%.
